Managed IT Support

Managed IT support for Gauteng businesses

When computer problems, staff changes and supplier questions all land with the owner or office manager, IT becomes a second job. CJN IT Solutions has supported small and medium businesses across Pretoria, Centurion, Midrand and Johannesburg since 2003, with fixed-cost managed support that gives staff a clear route for help and the business an agreed scope for ongoing IT work.

One route for users

Staff should not have to diagnose a fault before asking for help. They describe what is not working, and we identify where the problem actually sits.

  • Desktop and laptop troubleshooting
  • Remote and onsite assistance
  • Escalation to third-party suppliers

The systems you rely on

Support covers the environment the business actually runs, both in Microsoft 365 and on the infrastructure that remains onsite.

  • Microsoft 365 administration
  • Windows Server deployment and support
  • Networking and office connectivity

A defined monthly scope

A fixed-cost agreement sets out what is included each month, so a routine support request or a planned change holds no surprises.

  • Users, devices and locations covered
  • Maintenance responsibilities included
  • Projects and licences quoted separately

Give staff one route for everyday IT problems

Employees should not need to diagnose a fault before asking for help. They should be able to explain that Outlook is not sending, a shared folder will not open or a computer has become unreliable.

CJN's contractual support includes helpdesk access, with remote and onsite assistance according to the agreement. We work through the issue with the user and identify whether the problem sits with the device, local network, Microsoft 365 environment or another supplier's application.

When a third-party supplier needs to act, we can assist with the technical escalation. That reduces the time managers spend translating between an employee, an application vendor and an IT provider.

What a managed support agreement can cover

The exact service depends on the users, devices, locations and systems included in the agreement. The areas below reflect CJN's support capabilities.

Computer and user support

We troubleshoot desktops and laptops, configuration problems and the connections between a user's device and the services needed for work. Some issues can be resolved remotely; physical faults and local connectivity problems may require onsite attention.

Repeated disruption also needs a decision. We can help assess whether another repair is reasonable, whether the configuration should change or whether replacement planning would reduce further downtime.

Microsoft 365 administration

Staff join, change roles and leave. User accounts, mailboxes and access should follow those changes with business approval.

CJN supports everyday Microsoft 365 administration and user issues within the agreed environment. For migrations, SharePoint and Teams configuration, and wider platform work, see our existing Microsoft 365 support page.

Windows Server and network support

Many SMEs still rely on Windows Server or local networking for part of their work. CJN deploys, supports and maintains Windows Server environments and supports networking equipment and office connectivity.

We work with the systems the business actually uses. Moving one service to the cloud does not remove the need to maintain the infrastructure that remains onsite.

Maintenance and recurring issues

Managed support includes more than responding to urgent calls. System checks, updates and attention to repeated faults help prevent temporary workarounds from becoming the normal way of working.

The proposal should state which maintenance responsibilities CJN will take on and which systems are covered.

Backup and endpoint protection oversight

CJN supplies Acronis backup solutions and Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security Services. Their role in the supported environment, including licensing and management responsibilities, needs to be agreed explicitly.

Understand what the fixed monthly cost covers

A fixed-cost agreement creates a defined monthly commitment for agreed support. It does not mean that every future IT expense is automatically included.

Before signing, confirm:

  • The users, devices, locations and systems covered.
  • How remote and onsite assistance will be provided.
  • The applicable support hours and response commitments.
  • The maintenance and administration responsibilities included.
  • How equipment, licences, projects and out-of-scope work will be quoted.

Plan staff changes as connected IT jobs

A new starter may need a computer, account, mailbox, applications and approved access to shared information. Those items need to be ready for the same person at the same time.

Tell us about staff changes early. Your business decides the role and approves access; CJN helps apply those decisions to the supported systems.

The same coordination matters when an employee changes roles or leaves. Accounts may need adjustment, business information must remain accessible and equipment may need to be reassigned. If new devices are required, our IT hardware procurement service can connect supply, setup and support.

Changing IT providers

You do not need a perfect asset list to start the conversation. Tell us how many people need support, which main applications the business uses, whether there are servers and what you want to improve.

Before responsibility changes, a useful handover will need authorised access to relevant systems, supplier details, licence information and an understanding of the existing backup arrangement. We can work through those technical requirements with you and identify gaps that need separate attention.

CJN is based in Pretoria and has mobile technicians covering Centurion, Midrand and Johannesburg, so onsite attendance is part of the service where the agreement covers it. See IT support in Pretoria for the dedicated local service page, or review all business IT services.

Put ongoing IT responsibility in the right place

Tell us what keeps interrupting work, which systems staff rely on and what you expect from a support provider. We will use that information to discuss an appropriate agreement.
